Grevillea
Behavioural adaptations
- This plant has adapted overtime to poor soil quality- the roots enable the plant to absorb moisture rapidly.
Physiological adaptations
- Special roots called proteoid roots (cluster roots) are found in clumps below the soil surface, these enable the plant to quickly absorb moisture from heavy rain.
- The Grevillea is very drought tolerant; the stomata close during the day and open when the conditions are right to store as much water as possible.
